7 Treatments of Strep Throat

Strep throat is not a like a normal sore throat. It is an infection caused by bacteria called Streptococcus. It is spread through close contact and is very contagious. When someone coughs or sneezes with strep throat, they release the bacteria into the air which spreads very quickly. While strep throat will normally feel like a really bad sore throat, there are other ways to tell it apart, like the lack of a runny nose, having a mild fever, red, swollen tonsils, headache, white patches on the throat, rash, and sometimes even nausea or vomiting, especially in younger people who have strep throat. Strep throat is often very uncomfortable and even painful. Luckily, there are plenty of easy treatments to soothe away the symptoms. These treatments will help you get better faster and make you more comfortable as you recover.

1. Drink Cold Liquids

Strep will irritate the throat and cause a lot of pain. To help numb the throat and ease the pain, drink cold liquids. The cold will soothe away the sting and will also keep you hydrated, which will help your body fight the infection faster. However, steer clear of juices or other acidic liquids. The acid will only make the irritation worse. Instead, drink lots of water to help. Also avoid caffeinated drinks like iced tea or soda, because the caffeine will dry out the throat and make the pain worse. Drinking cold water will help lubricate the throat and soothe the irritation away.
